This eye-catching shrub or small tree brings colour and structure from early spring right through to autumn, making it easy to slot into a wide range of garden styles. Soft pink, butterfly-like flowers appear along bare branches at the start of the season, giving an early boost for pollinators before the foliage emerges. As the year moves on, distinctive heart-shaped leaves unfurl in a cool blue-grey shade, held on dark red young stems that add an extra layer of contrast and interest.
Cercis ‘Blue Lagoon’ has a naturally upright, well-balanced habit and works beautifully as a focal point in borders, lawns, or large containers. It thrives in a sunny spot with moist, well-drained soil and asks very little in return, once established, making it a great choice if you want something striking without lots of maintenance.

When planting, add some soil conditioner (well-rotted compost) to the planting hole and some mycorrhizal fungi to aid root establishment.
Ensure the top of the plant's compost is flush with the level of the surrounding soil and the collar of the tree is above ground level.
Support taller specimens either with a bamboo cane and or stake during establishment. Water generously around the base of the plant.
