Chosen to honour RHS Garden Bridgewater, Clematis ‘Bridgewater’ produces large, soft pink blooms with creamy white highlights and a bold central star, creating a striking display.

Flowering abundantly from midsummer, with a second flush in September, its saucer-like blooms reach up to 15cm (6in) across. This compact climber is perfect for trellises, fences, or large containers. Thriving in full sun to partial shade, it prefers cool roots, so mulch or plant low-growing companions at its base.

A magnet for pollinators, ‘Bridgewater’ is ideal for adding vertical interest and seasonal charm to small garden spaces.

Please note that the pot in the photograph is not supplied with the plant (which is sent out in a simple nursery alternative), but we have a wide and wonderful range on our website to choose from.

  • Garden care:
Choose a spot with well-drained, fertile soil and ensure the location receives plenty of sunlight—at least 6 hours a day—for optimal flowering.

However, they prefer their roots to be cool and shaded, so plant low-growing plants or add a layer of mulch of well-rotted compost around the base, avoiding the immediate crown.

In early spring cut back the previous year's stems to a pair of strong buds about 15-20cm (6-8in) above ground-level and apply a slow-release balanced fertiliser.
    • Humans: Skin irritant; Pets: Harmful if eaten
