A striking foliage plant that delivers instant impact, this trailing perennial forms long, cascading stems densely clothed in soft, silvery leaves. The rounded, heart-shaped foliage creates a cool, metallic effect that spills elegantly from hanging baskets, containers and raised planters, making it an excellent foil for brighter flowering plants or a standout feature on its own.

Growth is low and spreading, producing a smooth, flowing habit rather than a bulky mass, while tiny, inconspicuous flowers may appear in early summer but are secondary to the foliage display.

Grown as an annual in the UK, Dichondra ‘Silver Falls’ is valued for its drought tolerance, heat resistance and long season of interest, performing best in sunny, free-draining positions where its silver tones remain sharp and luminous.

  • Garden care:
Dichondra grows best in full sun with free-draining compost and needs only light watering once established, as it becomes more drought tolerant and and dislikes waterlogged pots and ground conditions.

Pinch back trailing stems occasionally to keep plants neat and encourage bushier growth, and feed lightly every few weeks during summer to maintain strong foliage colour.
