A late-season 'star performer'… attractive green and white, stella-shaped bracts (modified leaves) rise above the grass-like foliage from July and persist into November. This slowly spreading aquatic perennial prefers a boggy site and originates from the savannah and marsh regions of coastal Virginia through Florida.

  • Garden care: Little maintenance is required for star grass. Trim just above the water surface after foliage has died back in autumn to tidy, leaving some material to protect new shoots over the winter.
