Slender, tightly wrapped, cigar-like buds casually discard their flaky, papery sheaths to reveal emerging tender, silken leaves, which initially unfurl a pinkish purple before slowly starting to age and darken. Soft, hair like protrusions line the outermost edges of the leaves, and in time the tree is smothered in gorgeous plum-toned foliage. Majestic!
Please note: This is sent out as a bare root plant, and it should be planted out as soon as possible. - Garden care: Requires minimal pruning if grown as a tree, removing any broken, diseased or crossing branches in late autumn or winter. When planting incorporate lots of well-rotted garden compost in the planting hole and stake firmly.
- Pets: Harmful if eaten
