A striking addition to the spring bulb collection, Fritillaria imperialis 'Rubra' produces magnificent clusters of reddish-orange, bell-like flowers in April and May.
These imposing and long-lasting bulbs look fabulous emerging from a sunny, well-drained herbaceous border. After flowering remove the ripening leaves - left in place the seedpods provide sculptural interest for several months.

Large bulbs should be planted deep, around 20cm (8in), and set slightly on their side to prevent water collecting in the hollow crown. They prefer fertile, well-drained soil in full sun, and benefit from a mulch in spring. After flowering, let foliage die back naturally to feed the bulb.
- CAUTION toxic if eaten/skin & eye irritant
