A hardy perennial known for its vibrant late spring to midsummer blooms, producing branching, red-tinted stems that elevate the pink-flushed apricot flowers above lush, green foliage.

These semi-double, ruffled flowers add romantic charm to borders and containers, and Geum 'Mai Tai' is ideal for cut flower arrangements. Thriving in full sun to partial shade and well-draiined soil, it is a robust and easy-care plant that enhances any garden with colour and elegance.

  • Garden care:
Plant Geum 30-45cm (12-18in) apart in a sunny to partially shaded position, improving the soil with compost or well-rotted organic matter to ensure good drainage and moisture retention, especially if the soil is heavy or sandy.

Keep the plant well-watered, particularly during its first growing season and in dry periods, as Geum prefers consistently moist but not waterlogged soil. Deadheading spent blooms encourages continued flowering and prevents self-seeding.

Cut back untidy foliage in autumn. Lift and divide clumps every couple of years in early autumn and replant with the crown just above the surface of the soil. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted organic matter around the the crown of the plant in spring.
