Large, double white flowers, heavily speckled with burgundy near the centre, make this hybrid a standout in late winter and early spring. The nodding blooms rise on sturdy stems above a neat mound of glossy, dark green, evergreen foliage, providing structure and interest throughout the year.

Helleborus × hybridus 'Confetti Cake' is a reliable choice for dappled shade, thriving beneath deciduous trees, along woodland borders, or in mixed perennial beds. It is deer-resistant, low-maintenance once established, and gradually spreads in moist, well-drained soil, making it ideal for naturalising.

As part of the Wedding Party Series, this elegant lenten rose is perfect for brightening shaded areas when little else is in bloom. They are also beautiful if placed in cut-flower arrangements, turned upwards in bowls of water.
  • Garden care:
Add lots of well-rotted leaf mould or organic matter to the planting hole. Cut the old leaves back down to the ground in January or February as this will show off the new emerging flowers to best effect. It will also help to get rid of foliar diseases such as Hellebore leaf spot.

Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted organic matter around the base of the plant in autumn and provide a top-dressing of general fertiliser each spring.
    • Humans/Pets: Harmful if eaten; skin irritant
