Forming open mounds, the leaves of this attractive perennial emerge pinkish red and then take on tan, and later rich red colours in the autumn. The highly decorative foliage of Heuchera 'Autumn Leaves' will provide a bold blast of colour at the front of a partially shaded border.
Plant 30-45cm (12-18in) apart in moderately fertile, moist, but well-drained soil, incorporating compost to improve drainage and fertility. Keep well watered and remove tatty foliage in autumn.
Lift and divide clumps every couple of years in early autumn and re-plant with the crown just above the surface of the soil. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted organic matter around the base of the plant in spring.
