Bold pink flowers with deep red-pink centres make a striking contrast against the dark purple, deeply lobed foliage of this vigorous, shrub-like perennial.

Hibiscus moscheutos Carousel Pink Candy produces impressive blooms up to 18cm (7in) across, creating a long-lasting summer display from July to September.

Its upright, bushy growth habit makes it a standout feature in borders, beds or large containers. Ideal for adding a tropical feel to gardens, this hibiscus is low-maintenance yet highly rewarding with its dramatic flowers and contrasting foliage.

  • Garden care:
Plant in a sunny, sheltered spot with moist, well-draining soil. Keep the soil consistently moist, especially in dry spells, watering deeply rather than little and often to encourage strong root growth.

Feed regularly with a balanced liquid fertiliser every two weeks from spring until late summer, switching to a high-potassium feed like tomato fertiliser to promote abundant blooms.

In autumn, apply a thick mulch of compost or well-rotted manure around the base to insulate the roots and retain moisture. This hardy perennial dies back completely in winter, so leave the stems intact for added protection before cutting them back to its woody base in early spring.
