This moisture-loving British native is ideal for planting in reliably moist or boggy soils, Hypericum elodes also looks great when used to soften the edges of a pond, where it will quickly form a low, spreading carpet of softly hairy, grey-green foliage, which from late spring to midsummer is topped with yellow flowers.
Plant out in reliably moist or boggy soil, or pot up into a pond basket and place at the margins of a pond in shallow water no deeper than 5cm (2in). A low maintenance plant, cut back foliage to ground/water level at the end of the year. Divide congested clumps in early spring every few years.
- Humans/Pets: Fruit are ornamental - not to be eaten
