Iberis 'Appen-etz' is a compact, spreading, evergreen perennial with lance-shaped dark green leaves. Excellent for edging a sunny path or border, or for spilling over a stone wall, the plants will become drought tolerant once established, while the upright stems bear dense, flattened heads of fragrant, white flowers from late spring into summer, popular with butterflies and other pollinating insects.

  • Garden care:
Plant Iberis in full sun and well-drained soil, spacing 30-40cm (12-16in) apart. Water moderately while establishing, then sparingly once settled, as it is drought tolerant and only needs a light spring feed.

Protect young plants from slugs and snails and after flowering give a light trim to keep them neat—avoid cutting back hard, as they don’t respond well. Older clumps can be replaced every few years if they become woody.
