This wonderful foliage plant creates a fibre-optic effect, particularly when its slender tips are topped with small silvery white flower heads. It's primarily grown as an architectural specimen around the margins of a pond, where its submerged shoots can also help to oxygenate the water, but it's also excellent in a bog garden. It could even be kept in a pot - provided you make sure it's kept really well watered.
Thriving in consistently moist soils,Isolepis cernua is mainly grown as a marginal aquatic plant. Grow in full sun or light shade as a marginal pond plant in 2–8?cm (0.75-3in) of water, in damp or wet soil in a bog garden, or in a very well-watered container. In autumn, tidy the plant, but avoid cutting back the foliage completely.
