An enduring old-fashioned cultivar first introduced in 1903 by sweet pea breeder Henry Eckford. Named after Henry’s daughter Dorothy, this popular climbing annual has medium-sized, white flowers with a wonderful fragrance. ‘Dorothy Eckford’ requires a wigwam, an obelisk, sweet pea netting, or a similar supportive framework to scramble up.
Pots are supplied with 5-7 seedlings.

Before planting out, incorporate lots of well-rotted organic matter in the planting hole. Apply a balanced liquid plant food every two weeks while in growth and deadhead regulary to encourage more flowers.
From October to late March, sow seeds into pots filled with good-quality seed compost and grow them on in a cold frame. Then, after the worst frosts have passed, the seedlings can either be planted out or potted up for the patio. Alternatively, direct sowings can be made in October or from March to April.
