Vibrant red flowers open from the base of the upright stem from late spring to midsummer, creating a bold display that is perfect for a border filled with hot colours. The upright habit of Lupinus 'Red Rum' will also add structure to mixed planting schemes.


  • Garden care:
    Plant lupins in full sun with well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral soil, avoiding heavy clay. Water regularly while establishing, but once mature they become more tolerant to dry conditions.

    Stake tall cultivated varieties with bamboo canes in spring before flowers appear, and remove faded blooms to encourage a second flush. Mulch lightly in winter to protect roots, and watch for slugs and snails on young growth.
