Naturally suited to containers and raised displays, ivy-leaf geranium ‘Amethyst’ thrives in a sunny, sheltered position where its relaxed habit can tumble gracefully over the edges of planters. The neat, fleshy leaves cope well with heat and brief dry spells, making it an easy-going choice for patios, balconies and summer bedding schemes.
The gently trailing stems weave together into a full, flowing mound, while clusters of semi-double flowers open reliably through the warmer months, each bloom showing rich amethyst tones with a slightly deeper centre.
Regular deadheading keeps the plant producing fresh flowers, while occasional feeding helps maintain a long season of colour that carries well into early autumn. Cheerful, reliable and wonderfully free-flowering, this variety brings effortless impact wherever a splash of vibrant pink is needed.

Our bedding range and bedding collections (where available) are offered as seedlings, cuttings, and potted plants.
Pot up seedlings and cuttings and grow them on under glass until the risk of frost has passed. Once conditions are warmer, they can be planted directly into well-prepared beds, or used to fill patio pots, window boxes, and hanging baskets for long-lasting seasonal colour. Larger 9cm bedding plants don’t usually need potting on but will benefit from initial frost protection in spring.
To keep bedding plants looking their best, and where applicable, pinch out the tips to promote bushier growth and water regularly, especially in containers where compost dries out quickly. Feed with a high-potash fertiliser every couple of weeks to encourage continuous flowering. Deadhead faded blooms, as required, to extend the display and keep plants tidy, ensuring vibrant summer flowers from planting time right through to the first frosts.
