This primrose has a distinct dark foliage that creates a striking subject in pots, baskets and borders.
Primula ‘Obsidian Purple’ not only has a luxurious look but is also very uniform in flowering, both within its colour and across colours across the Obsidian range, making for a blanket of royal purple flowers bejewelled with a golden eye when planted in clustered groups.

For use as winter/spring bedding plants, plant primulas into fresh, free-draining compost and position pots and baskets in a bright, sheltered spot, avoiding harsh midday sun. Water well after planting, keep the compost just moist through winter, remove faded flowers regularly, and protect containers from prolonged hard frost to keep plants tidy and flowering well.
Alternatively, plant out in a partially shaded and sheltered position, adding position, adding plenty of leaf mould and compost to the planting hole and backfill. Water well until established.
