This pretty fern has slender, finger-like fronds, each of which has a ruffled trim and a cream and green variegation. Forming on a slowly spreading rhizome and topping slender stems, the foliage of Pteris nipponica creates a rather lacy, ethereal effect.
Please note that the plant comes in a 12cm nursery pot as standard, unless a decorative pot cover is included as an option.

Pteris nipponica prefers a shaded to semi-shaded, sheltered position and free-draining, fertile yet moisture-retentive soil; incorporate plenty of well-rotted leaf mould or garden compost at planting. We recommend container growing so plants can be moved to a frost-free position during the coldest months, in milder regions P. nipponica can over-winter outdoors successfully. Offer additional winter protection in colder regions. Cut back decayed fronds in winter to allow fresh new growth to emerge.
