Mottled grey-green snake-like markings weave their way across long sword-like leaves. This award-winning houseplant has striking creamy-yellow margins. These robust plants can have a slightly weather-beaten appearance, sometimes with rough, brown edges and occasionally some minor leaf cracking can be seen. This does not affect the long-term health or vigour of Sansevieria trifasciata var. laurentii only adds to its charm!

Place Sansevieria in a bright room with indirect light, though it will also tolerate lower-light spaces, making it easy to position around the home. Keep it warm (though away from direct heat sources such as radiators) and away from cold draughts, and use a free-draining houseplant compost. Check that any pot cover you are using is not allowing the nursery pot inside to sit in water.
Allow the soil to dry out completely before watering, then water thoroughly and let the excess drain away; never leave it standing in water as this causes root rot. In winter, reduce watering and keep temperatures above 10°C (50°F). Repot every few years when the roots begin to outgrow the container, choosing a pot only slightly larger to avoid lingering moisture.
