Originating from southern Africa where they are found colonising reliably moist soils or lake margins, these elegant perennials are at their peak in summer when they produce their magnificent flowers. These look beautiful in the border, but are also excellent for cutting and adding to the vase, where they will usually put on a long-lasting display. Tolerant of a little light shade, they will flower best in a sunny spot and they should be fed and watered freely during the growing season. These sunset inspired cultivars will need to be moved under glass for the winter months.

In each collection you will receive 1 bare root plant of each of the following:

  • Zantedeschia 'Red Alert': A compact, tuberous perennial calla lily forming clumps of glossy, green leaves spotted and flecked with white. In summer, rich, dark purple-black flowers are held on upright stems above the foliage. Grows to 60cm.

  • Zantedeschia 'Odessa' (PBR): Deep plum-coloured flowers, which look almost black in low light, are held on rich green stems above the clumps of lightly spotted, mid-green foliage. Its compact habit makes it a handsome specimen for pots and containers on a sunny patio. Grows to 50cm.

  • Zantedeschia 'Sunset Passion': This stunning calla lily cultivar commands attention with its large, red-orange blooms that deepen in colour as they mature, lasting over many weeks. 'Sunset Passion' features leathery, lance-shaped or arrow-shaped foliage adorned with striking white freckles. Its compact habit makes it ideal for pots and containers on sunny patios, while also serving as a bold focal point in sheltered bog gardens or pond margins. Equally at home in traditional or contemporary settings, it also thrives in reliably moist borders. Grows to 60cm.

  • Garden care:
Plant the tubers 7-10cm (3-4in) deep and 30cm (12in) apart into reliably moist, rich soil or good-quality potting compost. Water sparingly until new shoots start to emerge and then start to water more regularly. Best grown as a tender, summer interest plant, this calla lily can be protected from cold in a sheltered, frost-free spot during the winter.
    • Humans/Pets: Harmful if eaten; skin irritant/allergen
