These bold, striking plants with their sword-like long green leaves growing out of a trunk never fail to impress, and in the wild they can reach heights of 10m (30ft) at maturity though will be more modest if grown in pots. They are one of the few houseplants that really do love the sun, so ideal as that stand-alone specimen for the conservatory. Grown for its foliage and shape, Yucca elephantipes can have white bell-shaped, scented flowers but this is rare.

Please note that the plant comes in a nursery pot as standard, unless a decorative pot cover is included as an option.

  • Home care:
Place in a bright, sunny spot, though it will tolerate some light shade. Keep indoor temperatures above 7°C (45°F), as it doesn’t like cold drafts. Water more frequently during the warmer months, letting the top of the soil dry slightly between waterings, and cut back on water over winter to avoid soggy roots.

The plant could be placed outside during the summer in milder, sheltered areas.
    • Pets: Harmful if eaten; Humans: Skin allergen
