This footed Pithari planter is a new addition to our handcrafted Cretan terracotta range. A striking pot that works perfectly as a focal point and will suit a wide variety of planting.

Modelled on traditional clay vessels used to store wine, olives and oils, these are hand thrown from premium-grade local clay using techniques passed down for thousands of years.

Each one is shaped on a potter’s wheel, kiln fired and 'quenched' by filling with water for 24 hours. This gives the pots incredible durability, rendering them frost-proof to -20°C and heat-resistant to 50°C.

A final spray with a clear silicone solution repels water droplets to prevent moisture penetrating and damaging the pot. Supplied with a pre-drilled drainage hole.

Please note that as these are handmade pots, dimensions are approximate. There will be some variation in size, shape, thickness and finish from pot to pot. Over time, mineral salts in the clay will leach to the surface, enhancing each pot's unique character.
