The handsomely lobed leaves of this low-growing semi-evergreen perennial are a deep burgundy, however the tops of the leaves are generously dusted in silver. This creates quite a distinctive two tone effect, which is further enhanced by the darker veining running through the silver. A wonderful contrast plant for the front of the border, Heuchera 'Silver Scrolls' also looks great in pots and windowboxes. The sprays of creamy white flowers, which rise above the foliage in summer, are an added bonus.

  • Garden care:
Plant 30-45cm (12-18in) apart in moderately fertile, moist, but well-drained soil, incorporating compost to improve drainage and fertility. Keep well watered and remove tatty foliage in autumn.

Lift and divide clumps every couple of years in early autumn and re-plant with the crown just above the surface of the soil. Apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted organic matter around the base of the plant in spring.
