Native to tropical and southern Africa, and tropical Asia, Coffea arabica is the dominant variant of coffee plants in cultivation, representing around 60% of global production. When grown as a house plant, it forms a handsome evergreen shrub (or tree), and in time, it may even produce scented flowers, followed by green fruits that contain two coffee beans. An unusual addition to the indoor collection - it makes a great gift for a coffee-lover!

  • Home care: Grow under glass in loam-based potting compost conditioned with organic matter. Maintain a draught-free and humid environment. Water freely during the growing season and apply a balanced liquid feed every two weeks; reduce frequency of watering (and amount of water) in winter. Repot every 2-3 years in spring.
