With its vibrant winter stems and multi-season appeal, Cornus sanguinea brings year-round ornamental interest to a wide variety of garden soils. As spring arrives, this upright deciduous shrub unveils ovate mid-green leaves emerge, accompanied by flat clusters of petite white blooms. The foliage transitions to deep crimson hues in autumn, enriched by shiny black berries and supplemented by the red stems of that season's growth, standing out against the bare winter landscape. This dogwood is ideal as a colourful and hardy, standalone ornamental barrier or as an excellent addition as part of a mixed native hedge.
