One of the earliest montbretias into bloom each year, 'George Davison' produces elegant, arching sprays of trumpet-shaped flowers, which seem to hover above the slender, upright foliage in mid- to late summer. Perfect for brightening up sunny gardens and adding a vibrant, tropical feel to pots or borders, pair it with ornamental grasses or other mid to late summer flowering perennials with flat-topped flowerheads (such as Echinacea or Helenium) to create dynamic, colorful, and textured displays.

  • Garden care:
Potted plants can be planted any time of year, avoiding water-saturated and frozen soil. Mix in some well-rotted compost with the excavated soil and firm around the plant and provide a thick layer of mulch (well-rotted compost) as winter protection for the roots. Plant the corms (bulbs) in spring approximately 8-10cm (3-4in) deep and 10-15cm (4-6in) apart. Resist removing the faded foliage in autumn and cover the crown of the plant with bracken or bark chips to protect the plant against frost damage. Once established, divide congested clumps in spring, planting the divided sections 8-10cm (3-4in) deep.
    • Humans/Pets: Ornamental bulbs - not to be eaten
