Longer than average dark green leaves, form on the upright stems of this slender, evergreen shrub. Its skyrocket-like shape is very structural, and that makes Taxus baccata 'Fastigiata Robusta' perfect for formal settings - or anywhere that you want to add a vertical accent to the planting scheme.
Yew thrives in full sun to partial shade and well-drained, acidic soil. Plant in a hole twice the size of the root ball, amended with organic matter. Water regularly, especially during dry periods, and fertilise annually with a balanced granular feed.
Pruning is not usually necessary, however any shoots that ruin the symmetry of the plant can be removed in late summer. Apply a generous layer of mulch around the base of the plant (avoiding the immediate crown) in late winter.
