This hardy annual boasts aromatic dark green foliage and fully double flowers in deep orange with burgundy-tipped petals. Blooming from late spring until the first frost, it is easy to grow and maintain. The maroon buds open into vibrant orange petals, making it an excellent choice for cut flowers. If not deadheaded, it will self-seed, adding enduring charm to your garden without becoming invasive.
Keep well watered and feed with a high potash fertiliser (such as Tomorite) at regular intervals throughout the growing season. Regular deadheading of the flowers will ensure even more appear until the first frosts.
In autumn or spring, either sow in situ into well-raked soil, or in a seed-tray or pot. Cover the seed with 1cm of soil or compost and thin out as the seedlings appear allowing 30cm (12in) between each plant.
