Upright sprays of yellow-green leaves, turning bronze in winter and flask-shaped cones. This delightful, dwarf golden Chinese thuja is an excellent specimen plant for a sunny rockery or border with moist, well-drained soil.
Forming a neat, oval shape, Platycladus orientalis 'Aurea Nana' looks great surrounded by low-growing, lime-tolerant heathers and alpine plants.

Plant in full sun with well-drained soil, avoiding waterlogging. Dig a hole slightly wider than the root ball, set it level with the soil, backfill, firm gently, and water well. Space plants 60-90cm (2-3ft) apart to allow their compact, conical shape to develop. Water moderately in the first season; once established, it becomes more drought-tolerant. Mulch lightly around the base, keeping clear of the crown.
Pruning isn’t usually needed, but remove dead or damaged shoots in late winter or early spring, and lightly trim if required to maintain shape.
