  • Position: full sun or partial shade
  • Soil: humus-rich, reliably moist soil
  • Rate of growth: average
  • Flowering period: May to June
  • Hardiness: borderline hardy (may need winter protection)

One of the hardier forms, it is suitable for naturalising in milder climates, and may retain its foliage throughout the winter. It is however for its pure white flowers, which are produced in succession from late spring, that it is most highly prized.

  • Garden care:
Plant the tubers 7-10cm deep and 30cm apart into rich soil or good-quality potting compost. Water sparingly until new shoots start to emerge and then start to water more regularly. Apply a deep mulch in autumn.
  • Garden care:
Plant in humus-rich, moist to poorly drained soil, basking in full sun for optimal growth. In regions that experience severe or prolonged cold, it's essential to protect the crown of plants above the waterline with a deep winter mulch to safeguard against frost damage.

While this cultivar is typically hardy in areas with mild winters and can remain in the ground year-round, in colder regions, it's advisable to dig up rhizomes before the first frost and store store them in a cool, dry place until spring.

Alternatively, for those in colder spots, treating them as annuals by replanting new rhizomes each year is a viable option to ensure continuous blooms and healthy growth.
    • Humans/Pets: Harmful if eaten; skin/eye irritant
