A low-growing, mat-forming perennial that spreads into a soft carpet of ovate, lightly toothed green leaves, reaching around 20cm (8in) high and gently spilling over edges or pots as it grows.
From late spring through summer and often into autumn, it produces clusters of pink-mauve, lipped flowers that gradually soften to lilac as they mature. The blooms rise just above the foliage and release a rich, sweet fragrance that carries on warm days, making it a brilliant choice for seating areas, paths and doorways where you can enjoy the scent.
Often grown as a superior, seasonal bedding plant, Nemesia denticulata performs just as well in window boxes, patio containers and at the front of sunny borders. It copes admirably with heat and heavy rain once established, prefers well-drained loam or sandy soil, and thrives in full sun or light shade. In milder regions of the UK, it may overwinter though additional protection against wet and cold may be needed.

Our bedding range and bedding collections (where available) are offered as seedlings, cuttings, and potted plants.
Pot up seedlings and cuttings and grow them on under glass until the risk of frost has passed. Once conditions are warmer, they can be planted directly into well-prepared beds, or used to fill patio pots, window boxes, and hanging baskets for long-lasting seasonal colour. Larger 9cm bedding plants don’t usually need potting on but will benefit from initial frost protection in spring.
To keep bedding plants looking their best, and where applicable, pinch out the tips to promote bushier growth and water regularly, especially in containers where compost dries out quickly. Feed with a high-potash fertiliser every couple of weeks to encourage continuous flowering. Deadhead faded blooms, as required, to extend the display and keep plants tidy, ensuring vibrant summer flowers from planting time right through to the first frosts.
