Brightening things up from the moment it’s planted, this seasonal bedding foliage plant brings a warm splash of gold that lifts containers and baskets all season long.

Soft, velvety leaves in glowing yellow-gold tones sit on gently branching stems that mound and trail with ease, making it perfect for softening pot edges or spilling from hanging baskets. The colour deepens in good light, acting as a brilliant foil for bolder blooms and adding texture even when flowers around it take a pause.

Helichrysum ‘Gold’ thrives in a sunny spot with free-draining soil and is easy to care for, working beautifully alongside pinks, purples and reds to create a balanced, eye-catching display on patios, balconies, or in mixed container planting.

  • Garden care:
Our bedding range and bedding collections (where available) are offered as seedlings, cuttings, and potted plants.

Pot up seedlings and cuttings and grow them on under glass until the risk of frost has passed. Once conditions are warmer, they can be planted directly into well-prepared beds, or used to fill patio pots, window boxes, and hanging baskets for long-lasting seasonal colour. Larger 9cm bedding plants don’t usually need potting on but will benefit from initial frost protection in spring.

To keep bedding plants looking their best, and where applicable, pinch out the tips to promote bushier growth and water regularly, especially in containers where compost dries out quickly. Feed with a high-potash fertiliser every couple of weeks to encourage continuous flowering. Deadhead faded blooms, as required, to extend the display and keep plants tidy, ensuring vibrant summer flowers from planting time right through to the first frosts.
