Packed with contrast and character, this snapdragon brings real presence to borders and containers, combining upright flower spikes with dark, moody foliage that sets it apart. The purplish-black leaves form a strong, bushy base, topped from spring onwards with soft pink-yellow, hooded blooms that glow in sunlight and add height and movement to planting schemes. It works brilliantly as a focal point in pots, mixes well with lighter foliage plants, and makes a long-lasting cut flower for indoor displays.

Antirrhinum ‘Snap in Black Apricote’ thrives in sunny spots with free-draining soil and its nectar-rich flowers are popular with butterflies. It's a great choice for wildlife-friendly gardens, and its neat, upright habit suits everything from patio containers to the front of a sunny border.

While botanically a short-lived perennial, most gardeners prefer to grow these wonderful bedding plants as seasonal annuals.

  • Garden care:
Our bedding range and bedding collections (where available) are offered as seedlings, cuttings, and potted plants.

Pot up seedlings and cuttings and grow them on under glass until the risk of frost has passed. Once conditions are warmer, they can be planted directly into well-prepared beds, or used to fill patio pots, window boxes, and hanging baskets for long-lasting seasonal colour. Larger 9cm bedding plants don’t usually need potting on but will benefit from initial frost protection in spring.

To keep bedding plants looking their best, and where applicable, pinch out the tips to promote bushier growth and water regularly, especially in containers where compost dries out quickly. Feed with a high-potash fertiliser every couple of weeks to encourage continuous flowering. Deadhead faded blooms, as required, to extend the display and keep plants tidy, ensuring vibrant summer flowers from planting time right through to the first frosts.
