The wide, black-eyed, violet-blue, bowl-shaped blooms of Anemone coronaria 'Mr Fokker' rise above mounds of fine, fern-like foliage in spring.
This low growing tuberous perennial, also known as poppy-flowered anemone, is perfect for adding interest to early-season planting displays and is also a wonderful cut flower.

Soak the tubers overnight in cool water and plant them in naturalistic drifts (it doesn't matter which way up) 5cm deep and 15cm apart from September to November, or (for later flowers in spring), February to April.
Ideally you should choose a spot where they can be left undisturbed so they can naturalise and spread. Avoid excessively wet conditions when dormant.
