Cornus alba 'Aurea' makes an excellent specimen plant for damp areas of the garden, the stem and leaf colour are superior in full sun.

Garden care:
Incorporate some well-rotted garden compost when planting and scatter some mycorrhizal fungi on the rootball to aid establishment and water in well.
Leave the plant unpruned for the first year after planting, but once established, and for best stem colour, cut new growth back hard to within 5-7cm (2-3in) from the ground in March and apply a generous 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or horse manure around the base of the plant.
