One of the earliest flowering Roscoeas, 'Harvington Raw Silk’ is a vigorous, clump-forming member of the ginger family and sports the Royal Horticultural Society’s Award of Garden Merit. Beautiful pink bracts surround the buds which open into large, ivory-white orchid-like flowers. An easy and reliable perennial for a cool, shady position such as underplanted beneath roses and shrubs or dappled shade borders where the upright, yellow-green, stem-clasping leaves will maintain interest long after the midsummer flush of flowers has receded. - Garden care: Incorporate plenty of organic matter when planting. In very cold areas apply a dry winter mulch such as bark.
