Big, bold pitchers steal the show here, splashed in rich reds and yellows that look almost hand-painted. Each trap hangs like a curved lantern beneath fresh green leaves, forming a lively display that’s as decorative as it is hardworking. Commonly known as a Monkey Cup, this carnivorous houseplant lures and digests insects in its deep, mottled pitchers, making it both fascinating and practical for bright indoor spaces.
Nepenthes ‘Gaya’ is a vigorous, easy-care hybrid that thrives in bright, indirect light and enjoys a warm spot between 10-30°C (50-86°F), making it ideal for a sunny kitchen, conservatory or well-lit living room. High humidity keeps those pitchers coming, so regular misting or a nearby humidifier will help it perform at its best.
Water from above two or three times a week during the growing season, using rainwater, distilled or reverse osmosis water, keeping the compost consistently moist but never waterlogged. Feed one or two small insects per pitcher each month to maintain strong growth and encourage more of those striking red cups.

Nepenthes thrive in warm, humid, and partly shady environments, daytime temperatures should be maintained around 18-27°C (65-80°F), with a minimum of 7°C (45°F) at night, making them ideal for year-round indoor cultivation. They prefer being watered with rainwater, and many species benefit from sitting in a saucer filled with 2.5-5cm (1-2in) of water during the growing season. In winter, it's best to keep the compost damp rather than wet. Never add water into the pitchers as this can cause them to shrivel and die. Pot on in spring using a specialist carnivorous compost.
Please note: all our indoor hanging pots include drainage holes to prevent waterlogging. We recommend taking them down to water in the sink or on a saucer, and leaving them to drain before rehanging.
