Ideal for adding leafy ground cover to dry, shady areas, this disease-resistant creeping perennial is primarily grown for its heart-shaped foliage, which is attractively laced with a network of pale green veins. It makes an ideal companion for ferns and other woodlanders, and the small, starburst-like flowers that rise above the foliage in summer offer further interest. The pod-like seedheads, which often appear in autumn after the flowers have faded, are also attractive. - Garden care: Apply a generous mulch around the base of the plant in spring or autumn, and divide over-large clumps in spring.
