A real punchy, vivid azure-blue cluster of flowers heralds the arrival of this ‘unforgettable’ forget-me-not in early spring. This beautiful biennial looks lovely at the front of a mixed, herbaceous or wildflower border and Myosotis sylvatica 'Ultramarine' also excellent for edging pathways or for under-planting spring flowering bulbs such as tulips or daffodils.

  • Garden care:
Forget-me-nots thrive in moist, well-drained soil and prefer partial shade. Water frequently during dry spells to maintain evenly moist soil. Deadhead spent blooms to promote continued flowering.

These short-lived perennials are best grown as biennials or annuals but will self seed and spread if left untrimmed after flowering. Divide overcrowded clumps every 2-3 years after flowering to maintain vigour.

Sow the seed directly into the border where they are to grow in late spring or early summer. The bed should be well prepared and the seed sown thinly into shallow drills set 25cm (10in) apart. When large enough to handle, thin the seedlings to 15cm (6in). Maintain the soil moisture until the seeds have germinated, but avoid excessive waterlogging. Plants will flower in their second year and often self-seed freely.
