In spring, the fresh new foliage of this eye-catching grass emerges a bright golden yellow, but as the seasons progress and the temperatures rise, it softens to lemon-green. Intially quite upright, the foliage becomes more arching as it ages, and the tussock-like clumps are topped from midsummer with fluffy flowerspikes, which are often retained well into autumn. Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Hameln Gold' makes a great addition to a sunny patio, low mantenance border or sensory garden.
