An innovative petunia cultivar, 'Designer Royal Lace,' offers striking beauty for vibrant summer displays. This perennial, usually grown as an annual, showcases ovate, sticky leaves ranging from green to grey-green. From late spring to autumn, it presents trumpet-shaped flowers in a captivating lavender hue, veined in regal purple. With its semi-trailing nature, this petunia exudes sophistication in containers or bedding arrangements. Despite adverse weather conditions, it maintains resilience, offering a wealth of delicate blooms throughout the summer months.
Pot up cuttings and grow on under glass until all risk of frost has passed and they can then either be planted outside into a well-prepared bed, or used to fill decorative pots and hanging baskets for the patio (9cm plants don’t need potting on but require initial frost protection). Pinching out the growing tips will encourage them to become bushier, and feeding with a high-potash fertiliser at regular intervals throughout the summer will promote even more flowers to form.
