Masses of yellow-eyed, white daisies (which sometimes have a purple flush), start to appear in flattish clusters from mid- to late summer, above rich green, mildew-resistant foliage.
The flowers of Doellingeria umbellata are attractive to butterflies and good for the vase - and as they tend to appear earlier than many of the other asters, they help get the season off to a great start! It's a wonderful addition to borders or more naturalised settings, where it will maintain colour and interest well into autumn.

Plant Doellingeria in full sun or light shade and moist, fertile soil. Water well while establishing, and space generously (60–90 cm). Leave top growth on through the winter to provide protection and food for birds and insects, cutting back in spring. Insert twiggy prunings early in the season for discreet, effective support, and apply a 5–7 cm mulch in autumn, keeping it clear of the crown. Divide clumps every few years.
