The striking colouring of this herbaceous perennial makes it stand out from the crowd. The dark green leaves are often outlined in red or have red midribs, and in autumn will turn shades of red and yellow in the autumn before dying back. The flowerheads appear at the ends of the branches in early summer and these are striking shades of orange and red. Spreading to form quite large clumps, Euphorbia griffithii 'Fireglow' works well in hot-themed borders and associate easily with ornamental grasses.

  • Garden care:
Plant in sunny borders in fertile, moist but well-drained soil, watering regularly while they establish. These hardy perennials die back in winter and re-emerge in spring. Cut old stems down to ground level in late autumn or early spring to keep the plants tidy, and divide congested clumps every few years to maintain vigour.

Apply a light mulch in winter to protect roots and retain moisture. They pair well with ornamental grasses and late-flowering perennials, and tolerating occasional dry periods once established.
    • Humans/Pets: IRRITANT to skin/eye; harmful if eaten
