A breakthrough in breeding, 'Yuki Snowflake' is a recent introduction noted for its abundance of flowers and neat, compact habit. Flowering best in full sun, it will still perform well in dappled shade, lighting up the spring garden. An ideal plant for a patio pot or front of border spot, this pretty, deciduous shrub is smothered in a profusion of pure snow-white flowers each spring which will gently cascade over the edges. This low maintenance Deutzia would also make an interesting and unusual groundcover.

Plant in well-drained, moisture-retentive soil in sun or light shade. For pots, use a loam-based compost such as John Innes No.3, with good drainage to prevent waterlogging. Water newly planted shrubs regularly until established, and keep container-grown plants watered during dry spells.

After flowering, cut back spent flowered stems to a strong, healthy bud. Remove about a quarter of the oldest stems at the base to promote new growth and keep the shrub compact.
