Vinca minor 'Atropurpurea' is a low-growing, evergreen perennial with trailing stems, ideal for ground cover. Dark green, ovate leaves with rich plum-purple flowers emerge from spring to late summer.
This lesser periwinkle thrives in partial to full shade, is tolerant of a range of soils, so well-suited for suppressing weeds in difficult areas and this RHS award-winning cultivar is particularly useful for underplanting shrubs and trees.

Plant into a well-prepared border or woodland margin with plenty of organic matter (well-rotted compost) - Vinca does not like to dry out during the summer.
To prevent the plant from spreading, cut back any unwanted shoots in spring, and where necessary, lift and divide congested clumps at this time.
