A real eye-catcher for bright rooms, this upright, medium-sized Cape primrose delivers striking two-tone flowers that stand out for their long-season of blooming. Slim, narrow green leaves form a tidy rosette at the base, creating a neat framework for the steady procession of colour held on slender stems above.
Each flower opens to around 5cm (2in) across, with soft lavender-blue upper lobes set against rich, pansy-purple lower lobes, detailed with deeper veining into the throat. The contrast in colour gives every bloom depth and definition, and its naturally free-flowering habit means you’ll enjoy repeat displays from spring well into autumn.
Awarded the RHS Award of Garden Merit, Streptocarpus ‘Carys’ combines reliable performance with standout looks. Place it in bright, indirect light, grow in free-draining compost and water with care, and it will reward you with months of vibrant colour.
We’re proud to support our British growers, and having been raised by one of our trusted UK nurseries, this indoor plant has a low carbon footprint, which makes it perfect for an eco-friendly collection or gift.

Pot on rooted cuttings into general purpose compost and grow on indoors in an indirectly lit spot.
Water regularly during the growing season, allowing the compost to get a little dry in between; during this time they should be fed with a high potash fertiliser. Avoid letting water sit on the leaves.
Repot each spring into a slightly larger, shallow pot filled with fibre-based compost. They can also be used as summer bedding - grow in fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil in partial shade. Overwinter in a shaded greenhouse, or indoors on a south or west-facing windowsill, watering less often.
