Small, lavender-blue, snapdragon-like flowers from June to August and lance-shaped, toothed, mid-green leaves. This charming Allegheny monkey flower is perfect for planting around the margins of a garden pool.

Coping well in full sun or partial shade, Mimulus ringens can happily be grown in reliably moist or boggy soil, or in shallow shallow water up to 15cm (6") deep.

  • Garden care:
These marginal plants thrive in moist, humus-rich soil and can be grown either as bog plants or shallow aquatics. For boggy borders, we offer a 9cm nursery pot option — plant them in reliably damp ground in full sun to partial shade. Keep the soil consistently moist and protect young shoots from slugs and snails.

If choosing our aquatic pot option, place them at the pond edge with up to 10cm (4in) of water above the compost. Removing seed heads encourages new flowers to form.
