With its bold white flowers and a hint of yellow at the base, proudly displayed above large, white-flecked broadly lanceolate, pointed leaves, ‘Captain Kelso’ is a captivating calla lily from the Captain series. This high-ranking bulb needs a little extra care when temperatures dip!
Plant the tubers 7-10cm (3-4in) deep and 30cm (12in) apart into reliably moist, rich soil or good-quality potting compost. Water sparingly until new shoots start to emerge and then start to water more regularly. Best grown as a tender, summer interest plant, this calla lily can be protected from cold in a sheltered, frost-free spot during the winter.
