Trollius chinensis 'Golden Queen' produces wonderfully showy, yellow-eyed, bright orange flowers, above clumps of handsome, deeply divided mid-green leaves.
Flourishing in moist soils, its cheery, buttercup-like flowers are perfect for bringing early summer colour to the margins of a pond or stream.

Choose a location with moist or boggy soil. Prepare the bed well by digging in lots of composted organic matter before you plant. For best results it is essential that the plants are kept well watered for the first year, particularly during warmer weather.
Lift and divide large clumps in late autumn or early spring. In spring apply a 5-7cm (2-3in) mulch of well-rotted garden compost or manure around the base of the plants and water in very dry weather, to prevent the soil from drying out.
