An upright annual flaunting small lance-shaped dark-green leaves and abundant clusters of flowers in an enchanting array of cream-caramel and soft pink hues.

These enduring, delicately scented blooms serve as excellent pot fillers and cut flowers, thriving from summer well into late autumn.

While requiring support for its delicate stems, once planted densely, Phlox drummondii 'Cherry Caramel' thrives independently, showcasing clusters of pale caramel white blooms with blush pink centres, creating a charming display reminiscent of coffee, raspberry, and cream in this stunning annual phlox, perfect for long-lasting arrangements both in the garden and as a vase centrepiece.

  • Garden care:
Seedlings should be potted up and grow on under glass until all risk of frost has passed and they can be planted outside in a well-prepared bed. Pinch out the growing tips to encourage bushier growth, and feed at regular intervals throughout summer with a high-potash fertiliser.

Taller plants may need supporting with brushwood stems in exposed positions.

  • Sowing instructions:
Sow indoors between February and April (1.5mm deep) into moist seed compost in either trays or pots. Exclude light and maintain a temperature of 18-20°C or 64-75°F (germination takes 10-21 days). Once large enough to handle, transplant seedlings to 9cm pots.

Pinch out growing points to encourage a bushy habit. Acclimatise outdoors and plant out after the risk of frost has passed at 30cm (12in) spacing. Alternatively, sow direct from April to May.
